Shaney banned for a year.[^] Good, must stamp this shit out. I wonder how it will affect the last breath of his career though? Oh, and Bangladesh are 56 for 6 against SA.

Supposably he is going to appeal the decision. Don't know how myself as he admited to taking it. I don't care if it was to look pretty or to mask steroids or what not. He did the wrong thing, he's gone. I just hope it is enough to give a bit of credit back to our sporing associations. Too many Australians in the past who have done the wrong thing have been given a caution or a slap on the wrist. You fuck up you face the consewuences and repercussions. As for his career, after a year they will welcome him back with open arms. He is the greatest spinner of all time (if you listen to half the wankers in the world). I mean forget Clarrie Grimmett, Kiwi who came to Australia to play as New Zealand didn't have a test team. Then is made to wait on the sideline for years as he couldn't get into a Sheffield Shield team due to politics. Once he got to Test Cricket he took 216 wickets in 37 tests back in the days of Bradman when players knew all about leg spin. On top of that who do you think invented Warne's amazing flipper? I was not going to bring up the fact that Australians have in the past been subject to different rules than the rest of us. It is worse for Australians I think because of the bad name you get from it. So good to see them doing the respectful thing. I don't like Warne much, but he is damned good. Hell, whole Aussie outfit are damned good.

He may be "fat and round and bounces along the ground" but Shane Warne was a great player. A sad end to a career but it just goes to show that even the best can slip up. But did he do anything ? There were traces of a diuretic in his system which apparently cna be used to mask other substances. At most there was suspicion. Remember the athletes charged in similar circumstances for Nandralone which it turns out was in some cough medicine..... Fotrunately in a few cases the coach had the sense to keep the containers for all the medicine taken by the athlete. Without that they would have been found guilty. Its getting so if an athlete takes something for a cold their career can be ruined X| Elaine The tigress is here :-D

Now all athletes, coaches, managers etc. have it drilled into them that you take nothing that isn't supplied by a doctor who knows what you can and can't have. He fucked up and suffers the consequences now. Too many Australian athletes in the past have been given the royal treatment. We need to stand up and take the punishment the same way other countries have had too. Trollslayer wrote: Its getting so if an athlete takes something for a cold their career can be ruined Good. These are professionals. They are people who dedicate every waking moment to their career. Any athlete must check out even the simplest of medicine with their team doctor. Any athlete who does not do that is putting themselves at risk and doing so stupidly. As you said these things can ruin their career. So checking with your sports doctor is not such a big onerous thing to do. I do not know if you followed the Warne case but the guy said his mum made him take the medicine. Come off it. If my mum told me to use Linux and not Windows because her doctor recommends it, you think I would? I would thank her, carry on respecting and loving her and carry on with Windows. Warne was covering something else up. All athletics boards must be very strict with these cases. These professionals will do anything to get ahead, and covering up something more serious, like Nandralone, with a diuretic is well within their want. Trollslayer wrote: Fotrunately in a few cases the coach had the sense to keep the containers for all the medicine taken by the athlete. Without that they would have been found guilty. And the athletics board accepted that? HAH! What a joke. I can go down to the chemist and concoct 20 bottles of such and such a medicine to prove that I "inadvertantly" took something I shouldnt. Please. They are professionals, anything that passes their lips must be checked.
