seen "war photographer" today, a documentary about Jim Nachtway, a - you guessed - war photographer. Disturbing images (well, rotten.com is worse), highly personal (as opposed to objective). Other than that well recommened, independent of the ennemi de jour. Nachtway definitely an interesting person from more than just one point. My conclusion: News can't be objective. The camera affects the image, and the reporter shapes the story. ergo: There's not just responsibility in the viewer, choosing what he watches, but also in the maker of the news, and the "transmitter". IIRC there was a small Christiane Amanpour fanclub here. She appears, too ;)

peterchen wrote: Jim Nachtway He's brilliant. I've got a scanned photo of his showing an Afghan women at her brother's grave. Stunning, albeit a bit morbid, but it happens whether you look at it or not. I'd really be keen to get his book Inferno[^], but it's just too expensive.
