The moderation queue has been flagging some odd stuff lately. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but there were a couple yesterday that I decided to go the other way on to see how it goes. Apparently that was the wrong tack. I'll go back to only whacking the most egregious offenders.

Soapbox 1.0 is a private members forum. You, as you know are not a member of that fine "private members forum". However, its only visibility to the outside world is "read only" for non-members, but that forum you would only find if you just happened to stumble over it (as in stubbing your toe) whilst hoovering behind the sofa. So really, there are not too many reasons for Site Protectors to moderate those messages destined for the private members forum at Soapbox 1.0, especially as the forum has its own Moderator / Administrator that can squash messages into oblivion, or to censor such messages if that is deemed appropriate. As you will see from, other messages in this thread, I am still experiencing problems with the site. To me, CP appears to be messed-up and broken ... Anyhow, thank you for being kind enough to explain what happened. {fixed typo]

As the admin of that particular forum, SB1.0, I see no need to have outside moderation. If there is an issue with posting, I will deal with it appropriately. Is there a way to disable flagging for SB1.0 such that it doesn't enter the site moderation queue? This may be a question for Chris.

Still not working. I'm not at all convinced that CP can get my old account back. It's a ..... disaster (to put it politely). Anyhow, with this new account I have clicked SB1.0 Join Now button, so, you should get a request from me when you go into SB1.0 account. With MultiFox (a Firefox extension) I will periodically test if CP has managed to solve the problem without having to log out of this new account. See you next door as and when ...

All but the first issue seem to be resolved, at least for me. I suspect we have a caching issue causing the "No Active Code Project Member Found" to be displayed. Chris has asked me to look into reduce the amount of destruction that results from rejecting a message in the Moderation Queue.

IF CP does manage to resolve the problems - yes - problems as in many, let me know. I'm not at all convinced that CP will be able to rectify these issues. But I suggest you and Chris Maunder read the postings below from myself and Gary, and consider incorporating them into a probable solution ... So, still not working at all :(

Your account was reactivated, however your password may have been nuked (I'm not sure). Try requesting a new password. Also, try CTRL-F5 in your browser and/or delete the browser cache. Matthew

Simple solution ... If it is marked as destined for the PRIVATE MEMBERS FORUM of SoapBox1.0 then allow it easy unhindered progress. In that forum we discuss a whole variety of subject matter that is [usually] not relevant and not approppriate for ANY other forum in any other part of the CodeProject empire. And as it is a private members forum, what is discussed there is by definition - private - and should not never ever be moderated by those who have neither any interest in that forum or by those who are easily offended by either subject matter or by its contents, and those who are not actually members of that private members forum. The private members forum has its own Administrator/Moderator. They ensure that general CodeProject rules are followed. They ensure that the content is not potentially an affront to Canadian Law, to the best of their understanding of Canadian Law. They are most able to squash into oblivion any posting or any whole or partial thread in its entirety and to censor any posting. They are also able to discipline any members in a variety of ways to ensure proper conduct. I should know, I was the Administrator/Moderator until I passed on the baton, by transparent and democratic election, to the present official. Thank you :)

We don't moderate private forums, Richard, we protect against SPAM. Our spam detector was definitely out of sorts after the move but that has been rectified. the ferocity of the system's reaction to spam reports has also been turned down several notches, so far less chance that your account will be disabled (not nuked) should you post a message inadvertently marked as spam. With respect to protecting forums, private or not, we have seen instances were seemingly innocent members have spammed, or their accounts compromised and spam posted. If we could definitively say that no members of a private forum will spam then our job would be easier, but that's not an assumption I'm willing to make. You wrote "If CP does manage to resolve the problems - yes - problems as in many, let me know. The new account[^] you setup after your account was disabled is still around. Do you want me to remove it? - you mentioned that links from your http://www.codeproject.com/script/Membership/View.aspx?mid=1718109 were going to a different member. I don't see that happening at the moment. Anything else broken or is everything working to your satisfaction at this point?

Chris, At this moment in time, the old account is working so the new account can indeed be removed. It was only ever to be temporary. Regarding the spam filter, occasionally messages still gets stuck in the queue. I wonder if the SoapBox1.0 destined messages can be allowed to skip that anti-spam check. I'm sure that anything posted into the Soapbox1.0 forum that shouldn't be there will be squashed into non-existence by the SB1.0 Admin/Moderator.

So far so good. However ... Regarding the members of SB1.0, it is always possible that they may wish to make comments or observations regarding this question, they may even wish to have a wish list of further priviledges. Perhaps you might like to make a general posting, either, or via our Admin/Moderator into SB1.0 to get a greater feeling of SB1.0 member views and also to enquire what members would like to see for future developmen of the forum, it might be greeted with ideas for your consideration. An example of a further priviledge might be permitting images or even snippets of a webpage (or PDF filetype) limited to "x" characters or "y" paragraphs from that webpage with a "read more" link to the external website delivered within a AJAX accordion control. Of course I appreciate there may well be legal issues in displaying such content, and this will require a more active Admin/Moderator to quickly squash that which should not appear except by means of a hyperlink to an external resource.
