I don't think its very funny. I'm not a big fan of Salon.com, but I also have trouble believing everything the Pentagon has to say. I trust Bush, Cheney, Powell, etc, but they rely on advisers and Pentagon officials who I have trouble trusting.

From the US military personnel I've met over the years, even they don't trust their own leadership, because they are frequently ignored, misunderstood, or misrepresented. Of course, the "advisors" are in a no man's land in between our leaders and the guys who really know what's going on, and they are probably the people who are really in control of everything. Why them and not the folks in the Pentagon? For example, they all keep talking about these Al tubes being used to enrich U even after it's been shown that the tubes are not suitable and are replacements for small artillery rockets. Bush, et al. are always claiming that U.S. intelligence is great and is giving them good informatioin, so we must assume that they knew this before they started making these claims. It seems that they will say anything to make their case.
