Sneaky. You've got to question the legallity of that. Why would Dundas have www.stringray.com other than to steal mistyping customers from one of its biggest rivals. Could that hold up in court

Years ago when we were in the heat of competition with our buddies in North Carolina we did lots of off the wall things, we'd call them and purport to be irate customers, they'd call us and "inquire" about 500 seat deals for all of our tools, etc., etc. It was actually a heck of a lot of fun and in many ways I miss that time. Rumor has it that the team at Stingray also had a dart board with my picture on it! I remember getting an anonymous call from Michael Jones once at the Hypercube offices in L.A. about 10 min after we signed the agreement to purchase the company. Michael has some ungodly sense of timing (you listening buddy?) One of the funniest things we did was to set up a complete copy of the Dundas web site (with a pile of misinformation in it, demos with bugs, etc.) and route connections from stingray's IP address range to the bogus site. We thought it would work pretty well, but I heard many months later that it went undiscovered for a month or two (and made our esteemed colleagues pretty steamed). So, yes in that long list of jabs and practical jokes, we also registered stringray.com. Some people think it's funny, and some people think it's cybersquatting. Those close to the action I think saw it for what it is, good humored fun. Davi

ON another front, and nothing sneaky at all, but it occured to me recently that when I go to fatbrain, a type would yield fatbrian.com. Not knowing if there IS a brian out there, I typed it, and found myself at fatbrain. I'm sure this sort of thing happens often to catch customers who make a typo and might not bother retyping, but I thought it was kinda funny. FatBrian.com. I wonder if Brian has recourse to sue
