Hi Chris, From reviews, i came to know that Office.Net supports multiple copy and paste operations.ie. more than one selection. How could this be implemented in the current environment ? By going through the trends from Microsoft, that the feature first enters the Office pack and later goes on to the OS. Does that mean, the multiple copy/paste operations would also enter into next releases of Win2K(or is it 2001 or whatever). Also, what happen to the speech recognition would it be part of the OS. Any info on this would be great. Cheers Kanna

Hello, This has nothing to do with OS. I really do not find anything useful about it but it is not a new thing. KWrite, a text editor on Linux/KDE does this right now. In the KWrite, the selection information is kept in the line itself, ie each keeps information on whether or not it is selected. If you wish to keep asking the users to pop in more memory to support so-called cool features then go ahead and implement it too. Regards, Paul.

I assume that you mean Office 10, Office.NET is the next version after the next... if you see what I mean. As Word and the other Office Apps don't use the standard Windows controls for text editing, it's quite possible that we won't see new Windows messages for getting multiple selections. That said, with the new policy on service pack upgrades to the OS instead of side-effect upgrades through application instalations, I bet that a requirement for the new version of Office will be Service Pack X.

This might not help you, but Clipomatic is a great, free tool which adds multiple (text) clipboard support to the entire OS. It also works in a much nicer way than the office method, IMO. http://www.mlin.net/Clipomatic.shtml Some other neat stuff on the same site, some of it with source. Hope it's interesting. (I didn't write it but I recommend it.)
