    Agreed. IMHO Mr. Moore is an idiot. While he certainly has the right to object to the war, he can do on his own time. There has been an uprising against actors and musicians who claim to be speaking their own opinions, but the problem is they do not do it on their own time or in the correct context. If some musical group is against the war, they can write a song about it. That is what they do. If some filmmaker is against the war, he can do a film on it; And if some actors are against the war, they can act in a movie against it. This is the only way *I* will respect ANY their opinions let alone consider them. As people in the public eye, they are not speaking as private citizens - they have mass coverage and that is something that the average citizen does not have. Would they let me get up there and speak my own opinions on the war, the economy, or how Mr. Moore is an idiot? I doubt it. A lot more people booed Mr. Moore than had cheered, and as a typical brainless Hollywood idiot, he couldn't see what was right in front of him. Why did he say those things? He’s American alright, but he’s an American who does not appreciate the county he lives in. Born in England 39 years ago, I have lived in some of the worst places IMO: Sudan, Lebanon, Syria - but the last 24 years in America have definitely been the best. It's one thing to be an American; it's another to be a citizen who truly appreciates this country. My 2 cents worth

      i just lost any respect i had for him as a filmmaker. instead of accepting his Oscar like a gentleman, he launched into an unhinged tantrum about GWB, while embarassing all of the other documentary nominees whom he had invited on-stage with him. thankfully, he was booed offstage. "but Chris, you dislike GWB too", you might say. true. but i wouldn't use the Oscar ceremonies and the presence of 12 other unsuspecting filmmakers to try to express it. there's a time and a place; and that was neither - IMO. total idiot. -c

      I'm glad I didn't bother to watch the awards. In general I find all such award shows (film, television, music, etc...) to be a waste of time. Just a bunch of arrogant weasels patting each other on the back. Mike Mullikin :beer:

Sure, his actions were questionable, but I don't see how this will affect his ability to make films.             My take on Moore has always been "grandstanding asshole". This jives with that perfectly. This doesn't change my opinion of him as a film maker. ---

Moore's films are always about him going around the country interviewing various people about whatever thing he's upset about. so, there's a lot of Michael Moore in his movies. compare this to the other controversial winner from last night: Roman Polanski. because Polanski doesn't do documentaries, you don't get 90 minutes of watching a pedophile tell a story - you could probably sit through every movie Polanski has ever made and never know that he has a taste for anal sex with 13 year old girls - his movies can stand apart from the director. but, since Moore's method is to do half of the talking himself, you can never escape him. and now, after watching him piss on the furniture at the Oscars, i don't think i'll be able to look at his movies without seeing the selfish boor from the Oscars.                 This is exactly why I didn't watch the Academy Awards for the first time in many years. You'll notice I wasn't alone. The show had it's worst viewership numbers in its history. I could care less what Michael Moore (or any otehr actor) thinks politically. I watch something like the awards not to see political debate - I can go anywhere for that - but to enjoy the seeing the best Hollywood has to offer being recognized for their accomplishments. Cheers, Tom Archer, Inside C# Mainstream is just a word for the way things always have been -- just a middle-of-the-road, tow-the-line thing; a front for the Man serving up the same warmed-over slop he did yesterday and expecting you to say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?"
