You must have left all your 401k in stocks, hoping to ride that internet bubble a bit too long. Mine have been mostly in Bonds for some time. Get$01KGrowth() returns (an admittedly smallish) positive number... The lesson is not to blame others, but to agressively use your own good sense. Portfolio realocation works, and that bubble was visible a long way off. :) Some ideas are so stupid that only an intellectual could have thought of them - George Orwell

Sad that I lost some of your respect Jeremy, but I'm a big boy and can live with it. Just to clarify something I'm Pro the US's current involvement in Iraq, and personally pray the casualties all round are minimal, apart from Saddam and his son's. However I'm convinced the US will do economically well out of this war, and that was one of the deciding factors in several months back the US going into it. Also I believe Saddam has MWDs and needs stopping. If Bush's daddy had not have acted in 92 Saudi Arabia would probably be part of Iraq. Anyhow my my post was more inspired by the fact that the Acronym GWB could be used for George W Bush and Gulf War B. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Because I've known Colin a long time, and I've always taken him as someone who is intelligent (great math skills IMO). It's disturbing to see him fall victim of the cold claw of stupidity and following the line of others simply because "it's the thing to say." In short, I always took him as smarter than that. Jeremy You are taking things too personal. Colin made a comment about Bush and I dont see why you should be affected by that. The whole world has an opinion on Bush. Colin didnt say americans suck or anything, did he? Nish

That's the Colin I'm used to, and I'll admit I did jump to conclusions on your post. I guess I was on one of my asshole rounds yesterday. Not to make excuses, but with all the war crap going on it's so easy to misinterpret things. And, my biggest peeve with that was seeing you write something that I saw as petty. Not so much your thoughts, but you didn't "seem" to give it thought. So, I guess I should've asked you first what you meant. In a weird way, you could take that as a compliment, because if it were someone else I would've said "moron" and went on about my business. :) Jeremy Falcon

Check your facts and post some links to your findings. What were the GDP, unemployment rate, and LEI in 1999? How about 2000 (willy's last year as president)? How about 2001 (georgy's first year as president? How about 2002? Those willing to trade liberty for security deserve neither - Benjamin Franklin

Like I said the economy was already heading south during Clinton's last year or two. Look at a DOW or NASDAQ chart if you want some evidence. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Clinton for the economy. The DotCom bust was gonna happen one way or another. Add in the MCI WorldCom and Enron fiascos and the economy was doomed. But blaming Bush for the current economy is just plain silly. Mike Mullikin

Thats cool Jeremy. I guess everyone is pretty tense quite now, and yes I should clarify my humor better at this time. It must be distressing for you to see the POW type pics and body counts. (although thankfully low). Unsure if you pray, but my sentiments are to pray that this is over as fast as possible. The only real conspiracy I believe exists at the moment is that the US administration knows where to find the MWDs. I'm sure Bush's advisors would not have taken this stance if they didn't know where to find them and how to prove it to the world. Here in NZ it is surprising that a majority of the people I see day to day support the US, but our government doesn't, because of the vocal anti-war minority. I think you'll find the same elsewhere on the planet, even in some of the Arab places. Regardz Colin J Davies
