Funny how misinformation gets into the press: "Now, you must remember that in those days, Saddam Hussein was a puppet. He was an American puppet," said Yasso, who leads the Chaldean Catholic parish on Detroit's west side. Actually, at the time that Detroit gave the keys of the city to him, the US had had no diplomatic relations with Iraq since 1967, and Russia was Iraq's arms dealer throughout the 1970s and 1980s. (It's nasty that people make these kind of assumptions.) I also read recently that Saddam received awards from the UN in the 1970s. ------------------------------------------ "What happened in that Rhode Island club is shocking. I don't think anyone who is returning something that was due in the first place, is entitled for any special treatments. AFAIK, FW did not have any particular anti-apartheid stand until he became the leader of his party. My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers

The US had had no diplomatic relations with Iran either, than how come we had Iran contra? The US happily armed both Iran and Iraq, while they were fighting each other in the 80s. My point is simply this: the US didn't have diplomatic relations with Iraq and Russia was Iraq's biggest arms dealer. Does this sound like the actions of an American puppet government? Of course not! ------------------------------------------ "What happened in that Rhode Island club is shocking. To think that over a hundred people would attend a Great White concert." - The Onion
