A man was brought to Mercy Hospital and taken in for coronary surgery. The operation went well and, as the groggy man regained consciousness, he was reassured by a Sister of Mercy, who was waiting by his bed. "Mr. Smith, you're going to be just fine," said the nun, gently patting his hand. "We do need to know, however, how you intend to pay for your stay here. Are you covered by insurance?" "No, I'm not," the man whispered hoarsely. "Can you pay in cash?" persisted the nun. "I'm afraid I cannot, Sister." "Well, do you have any close relatives?" the nun essayed. "Just my sister in New Mexico," he volunteered. "But she's a humble spinster nun." "Oh, I must correct you, Mr. Smith. Nuns are not 'spinsters.' They are married to God." "Wonderful," said Smith. "In that case, please send the bill to my brother-in-law." :-D

Was the sister of mercy carrying a guitar? Wild hair? An amp? A dead bat? ;) Thanks Rohit. Just curious, why did you think of me when you saw this joke? (I am assuming Paulo == Me. If not then send me that link that Jorgen posted below :-D )

I just had some jokes to post, and I thought I'd follow Nish's style of subject lines in jokes posts. Or maybe (and it's a verrrry vague maybe) it was because you are an atheist, and the joke, well, you know what I mean. Isn't there a Saint Paul or something too (sorry if I got the name wrong)?

My parents were church goers and what not when they had me. They aren't any more though  My second name is Michael, also rather Christian :-D All about Paul (Saul) of Tarsus[^] I am not sure if that Paul is also the St. Paul, but every second church is named St. Paul. St. Paul's Cathedral in London is quite famous (I visited it. Thought it rocked and went on my merry heathen way.) Are you an atheist Rohit?

Ah, thanks for those links Paul. :) Yes, you could say I'm an atheist, but actually I don't care one way or the other. I'm sure there is a word for it, agnostic I think, but I can't be bothered to look it up to confirm. ;P I'm not a Christian btw. I was born in a Hindu family. Everyone in my family, especially my mom, is an avid believer in god and his powers and blah blah, and are very concerned that I don't give two hoots. I don't say there is a God, and I don't say there isn't a god, I just don't think it's worth my time to think about it. :) And all this after being religious for a major portion of my life. As I grew up though, I found that it's utterly ridiculous. If there's a god, certainly he/she/it hasn't sent me here on earth so I can keep praying, worshipping and remembering him, and keep offering things in temples. If he wanted all this, he'd have kept me with him, and had me do all the prayers he wanted. He has sent me here so I can do my work, and enjoy life, while I am here. And if there isn't a god, I still should do my work and enjoy my life, because that's what I want to do. :) But I still find it interesting to learn about things I don't know, religion included, and do it whenever I have the time/feel up to it.

Atheist[^] Agnostic[^] I am the former. Nothing wrong with being an agnostic so long as it is the "One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God" version and not the "One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism." because the latter are fence sitters IMO. Rohit  Sinha wrote: But I still find it interesting to learn about things I don't know, religion included, and do it whenever I have the time/feel up to it Thats great Rohit. I think I'm neither an atheist (because as I said, I don't care and don't know whether there is a god, but I don't deny there is a god ;P ) nor agnostic (because neither of the definitions of the word given describe me). I am someone who doesn't even bother to shrug. I don't know and don't care if there is a god. Paul Watson wrote: Though be careful, many a religious person will get agitated at that :) God has to be a big egoist to say that we should keep praying whenever we get the chance. Talk about him, think of him, him, him, him. When are we going to do something about me then? ;P
