The code blocks are surrounded by pre tags. Here, in this editor, I can select a word or expression and click var to surround it with code tags, which are inline. Why can't I do this in the article wizard without always having to switch to HTML view and manually code it? That is a smelly UX.

Problem solved, but I leave this here in case it helps anyone else. I didn't see the tiny button on the formatting toolbar. This is the same as the var button in this editor.
