https://www.googlewatchblog.de/2018/06/umfangreiche-kooperation-unity-google/\[[^](https://www.googlewatchblog.de/2018/06/umfangreiche-kooperation-unity-google/)\] It's a german blog sorry, but basically this article says: Google and Unity entered a cooperation for multiplayer gaming. Unity itself will relocate everything to the google cloud and the google cloud will be the default provider for connecting gamers, with its scaling infrastructure. Game servers, everything will be available via the google systems without the need "of every developer to become a cloud expert". I think this might helps lots of smaller indie studios to scale their games better. Blizzard, EA, Steam, they all have their infrastructure - but the smaller studio might benefit a lot from this.

agreed. VS has integration with Unity currently for VS2017, and I use this. However, according to this article, the alliance with Unity and Google, may be interesting with Microsoft also in the picture.

I always had a belief that Unity Technologies is much closer to Microsoft than Google. May be it's just because they have C# as one of their scripting language and yes! They also integrate well with Visual Studio. Or I'm not sure if there's some other background reasons for my belief. Now seeing them tie up with Google Cloud & not Azure, feels like a break up with MS.

I think it is because there are hundred thousands Android Apps done with Unity (or, to be more precise: "platform-independant-apps" that also run on android) and with a market share of 80+% of android when it comes to mobiles, it is way more likely that you will have a device at hand, that is more closely tightened to the google cloud than to the ms cloud. I have rarely seen azure apps outside of the business world but I saw tons of apps running on the google cloud, private and business as well. Also I do not see a break up here, as google currently shows in it's code check-ins to ChromeOS that, right after the linux apps, chromeOS MIGHT BE able to run windows apps in a VM in the future. I think, there's currently some really hot stuff going on behind the scenes and I can't wait to see that all come to life!
