        It is a sand storm. It had just engulfed the airport and was headed our way. A few minutes later we had about fifty foot visibility.

          I have experienced that, but because of fog. Never been in a sand storm (and I think it is better this way)

            Nice pic! I'm wondering if the darkening cloud cover is a result of the dust getting kicked up or is it just a massive low pressure front that's driving the sandstorm? :confused: Whatever, hope it doesn't happen too often...seems pretty hazardous. :omg:

              I remember sand storms as a kid, they would burn like hell. When I visited Phoenix a couple of years ago I went up to South Mountain and took a bunch of shots, in fact was all over the area photographing.
