‘Twas the week before Christmas at the North Pole finishing all the projects was the Head Quant’s Goal. Santa was wanting the newest naughty and nice list. Presents are needed for all good engineers and analysts. In California, they want a fire restoration tree and plant seeding robot. In Michigan, they want distribution channels for their new legal pot. In Europe, they want personal data protection according to GDPR and all their data access with Pandas in Python and not through R. Santa is delivering AI, machine learning, and deep neural networks for systematic quants and traders using JupiterLab and Notebooks. Throughout the year new data sets and attributes did appear. Analyzing them takes an inquisitive quant, not magical reindeer. 2018’s efforts filled storage clouds with new and bigger data resulting in new and better algorithms that are still in beta. Software engineering elves are failing in the final development sprint. The seasonal party beverages are to blame if you take the hint. Santa’s wonderful trip is set to go as always on Christmas Eve and the elfin quants still at work are already ready to leave. All our Natural Language Processing algos are telling us to say we hope you have a Merry Christmas and enjoy this wonderful day.
