How about this? Allow certain people to lock a thread message to stop replies. Perhaps this would be based on being a member for a certain period of time, or gold level, or being a supporter or editor or admin. Basically, when posting a message let the user select an option that causes the reply link to be suppressed when viewing the thread. I can see how you would not want people to abuse the system by locking up discussions, but it can come in handy. Especially when you want to post something on your personal message board but don't want replies. Mainly, I was thinking of the Info only posts for the CPP voting and such.
