    The Register[^]:

On Monday, the Perl Core developer known as Sawyer X announced his intention to leave the three-person Perl Steering Committee, or Council, and the Perl Core group because of what he described as community hostility.

Cruft isn't quite the word I'd use to describe perl

    (but it's close)

If a programming language is nothing but cruft, wouldn't saying it "contained" cruft be at least misleading?

I would. Cruft is the better part of Perl. :-\

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? --Zachris Topelius
