ONLYOFFICE introduces the desktop editors’ API

The ONLYOFFICE developers introduced API for the desktop editors, an application for working with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations on Linux, Windows, and macOS. ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors are licensed under AGPLv3. With the general availability of API, the application can be connected to any sync&share solution as a client. This way you will be able to access documents stored in there as well as edit and collaborate on them in real-time from your desktop. The API also brings the ability to implement end-to-end encryption for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Your document data will be encrypted and decrypted on the client using ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors. The editing and real-time co-editing processes will be encrypted as well. What’s more, the publicly available API supplies the developers with tools to run ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors in the debugging mode and create plugins to add the missing functionality or implement integration with the services you use (e.g. third-party spellchecker, translators, bibliographies). ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors API is a work in progress, the new updates for the developers will be provided soon. About ONLYOFFICE is an open-source project that brings self-hosted secure alternatives to Microsoft and Google products. ONLYOFFICE Docs is an office suite for editing text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in a browser. Integrating ONLYOFFICE Docs enables developers to bring quality document processing to their users. The Community version is distributed on terms of the AGPLv3 license. The developer version that allows providing the editors as a part of your solution with your branding has a commercial license. ONLYOFFICE Groups is a collaboration platform distributed under Apache license. It supplies the developers with tools to build industry-specific productivity solutions.
