Several magazines such as Software Development do annual salary surveys. I think SD's 2002 one is available on-line if you register for a free account on the site. another good source for this type of information is ComputerJobs.com - you can generally get Salary information for your area on this site (assuming you're in the U.S.). D.

$40-$50k starting salary in the mid-west.
