In a formal statement of objections, the European Commission has taken aim at Google’s core advertising business. A hearing will now follow to decide the course of action.

Sidebar ads will be run by one company, banner ads by another?

And popover ads will be outlawed?

I'm surprised it's taken this long. Google is fundamentally an advertising company and the previous EU fines amounted to chump change for Google.
