    Bleeping Computer[^]:

A 39-year old man from Somerset, Kentucky, was sentenced to 81 months in federal prison for identity theft and faking his own death in government registry systems.

But that trick always works in the movies

Really, not the death sentence so it would match the records he tried to change?

I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated. I’m begging you for the benefit of everyone, don’t be STUPID.

Never have I ever... had my father hack government systems to fake his death so that he didn't have to pay my child support. Someone is going to be killer at two-truths-and-a-lie and such. Ace in the hole.

Wrong state? I suppose he paid attention before doing it?

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

So, since he's already dead, would it be a crime to actually kill him? In this particular case, I think the appropriate punishment would be death and all his assets used for the child support he was trying to avoid.

The best reason for faking death is to avoid taxes. :)
