[Sept 2025] Article licenses changes
-
I noticed the recent update and went to check a few articles and I noticed key changes to the article page that may need addressing.
Change 1: The license footer changed. All of the article footers I see so far only list I believe all of the articles now have a single license, "Code Project Open License (CPOL)". This can be a major issue depending on which license the original article used. Some of the license do not allow re-licensing .
Change 2 The Article description header no longer lists the article/source code license. I found this really helpful in determining if I wanted to even look further into a particular article. This is a section only needs three main elements, and that is the Article License, Source code License, and a link to the license itself.
Change 3 Unable to browse articles by license. This is important because depending on license the article may not be compatible with a particular project.
Change 4: The following URL is no longer valid https://www.codeproject.com/info/Licenses.aspx and it is somewhat useful information as per what can be found on the web archive of the page...
