Use second parameter of CreateDispatch to check what's causing it to fail. See COleDispatchDriver::CreateDispatch [^] for it's usage.

You can check the return value of GetLastInputInfo() to see if the function call was successful. You can also use TRACE to show the values inside li on output window.

As has been said, when a process is terminated it's killed with prejudice and receives no notifications. That's the purpose of TerminateProcess, to kill a process that's misbehaving and can't be trusted. Perhaps a better approach would be to use an external process to monitor the process in question. For "End Task", system sends WM_CLOSE to the app window and wait for a specified time. After the time out if the window is not closed, "Application not responding" message will be shown, and the app is closed forcefully , if you select "End Now".
