Compare the contents of Project Properties -> Configuration Properties -> Linker -> Input -> Additional Dependencies. You're probably missing an entry in VC8.

Thank you for your answer. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I try to do this in a header file. In in function inside cpp file it works ok. Also, as a global variable it does not work. Maybe you could try that. Thanks, uli
