Tomorrow I pickup Battlestar Galactica[^] the original 1978 TV series from EzyDVD[^]. I hope it is half as good as it was when I watched it back in the early 80's ot late 70's whenever it was that I first saw it. Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". I thought it was okay unti they introduced that stupid robotic dog. And let's not even mention the flying motorcycles... I hope the new series doesn't make the same mistakes. Seasopn 3 starts Friday! ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

Um. Not really. Having seen it recently, it hasn't aged well. Although Jane Seymour still looks hot. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

We have no access to any of the new series on DVD. Being Region 4 and all we are like the 3rd world. I was 10 or 11 when I saw it, I don't remember the dog or the motorcycles, I will look for them though.

I wish we could get the newer series on DVD, my son wants it. Unfortunately we have only seen the first series (missed it due to work) and all we can get is the movie length pilot of the first series. This is the reason because I bought a region-free player... Well, it was sold as region 2 (Italy), but it was enought a simple cheat (something like up down return up up.. ;)) with remote control to change it to a region free player :) A region free player is a must: there are too many nice DVD in US that will never been imported here (e.g. Firefly is a great sci-fi serie too..) Done. But how do I get access to cheap quality DVD's. Remember that your pound buys about AUD$2.60 and the yankee dollar buys AUD$1.35. So imports don't work in my favour. For your info I can buy a 100% legal copy of Battlestar Galactica for AUD$34.95, the new version in a collectors tin is AUD$19.95 for the 2003 movie the series is not available yet. Take into account the exchange rate when thinking I cn buy overseas cheap. Michael Martin Australia "I controlled my laughter and simple said "No,I am very busy,so I can't write any code for you". True. I used to buy DVDs from ezydvd.au back when there were AUD$3 to the pound - it was cheaper to have them shipped from Oz than somewhere in the UK! R4 is PAL too IIRC, so the picture quality is better than R1.

WTF? Season THREE is about to start!? Man, I'm still waiting for season 2 to start here in the UK, and the annoying thing is, we got to see season 1 before the US. Sigh.
I believe it's actually part 2 of season 2 as the US seems to have a mid-season hiatus over the Christmas period... The reason we got to see season 1 first is that Sky co-funded the series and part of the deal was that they'd get the worldwide premier, from what I've heard the reason Sky haven't shown season 2 yet (starts this month by the way) is because they've got too many sci-fi shows running at the moment (Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, 4400, Threshold to name a few), I couldn't wait and downloaded it and I can tell you it is excellent, much better than the first season! :-D Can't wait for the second part now.....

Sweet. I am a happy man. The only reason I still have Sky is for BSG (I don't watch any other Sky channels to be honest). I did mail them a few months back and they said their license for season 2 meant they couldn't transmit it before 1st Jan '06, so I thought they'd have it on soon...

Actually, no - it's Season #3 starting this Friday. The last new episode shown here was in August or thereabouts. They've even said they do 10-12 episodes per season instead of the standard 22-24. We had two "seasons" last year, and we'll likely have two this year - at least in the US. As far the other sci-fi shows you listed, none of them hold a candle to BSG. They should drop Stargate Atlantis, 4400, or Threshold in favor of BSG so you euro guys don't fall so far behind. ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. Ah, didn't realise that, read somewhere else that it was part 2, but makes sense considering season 1 was only 10 episodes or so... Actually, I really enjoyed the latest series of the 4400, Atlantis is reasonable, haven't watched Threshold, but you're right BSG is the best of the bunch right now. To be fair, I'm not bothered when they air them, if I really want to watch something like BSG I'll download each episode as it airs in the states, I'll always maintain my Sky subscription and heck I'll probably watch them again when they're on Sky anyway :-D

NIIIICE!!! Starbuck, Apollo, Boomer what a great show. I watched it religiously every day after school. I was like 6 or 7 but man what a show. I can almost recall the Lorn Green intro to about their trek through space to find home... Let us know if it's as good now as it was then.:rose:
