1 meg download 265k Upload. 50:1 contention ratio and a 10 Gig per month bandwidth limit (although any usage between 1 am and 6 am is not metered). £20 per month. But its only 1 meg because of where i live. If i was in town it would be 2 meg download for the same price and if the exchange was 8 meg enabled and i lived in town i would have that for the same price. Jon

I use RoadRunner from Time Warner Cable, if you already have cable service the cost is $44.95 per month (USD). Unlimited upload / download, and speedwise I get about 5.0 Mbps downstream and 384 Kbps upstream. Gary Flickr Photos[^]

Its how many people could potentially be sharing that bandwidth. 50:1 is the standard in the UK for most home or cheaper business packages. If you pay more you can get 25:1 on business packages. Jon

Here, they give you only a single IP per line. If you want to put a router, and behind that, put 2,000 users, that's your problem. Same here. It relates to the sharing at the exchange i think. I am not sure how it works technically but that is pretty much the definition you get on the ISP's website. It doesnt seem to make much difference as my download speeds can be pretty fast. Jon

Scenario here in our state (TN,India): UNLIMITED Deposit(initial Amount- refundable):1000 bandwidth : 64 Kbps (unshared) Limit : Unlimited Monthly charge : 551 rs. Mode : Cable-NIC. Deposit : 1000 Bandwidth : 128 (unshared) Limit : unlimited Monthy charge:993 rs. (modem rent 100rs included) Mode : ADSL Modem rate raises accordingly for 256kbps. LIMITED: *sucks* . Deposit : 1000 Bandwidth :128kbps Download allowed : 400KB Mode : Cable-NIC Monthly charge: 350 rs. *above 400KB billable. Bandwidth : 128kbps download allowed:1GB Mode : ADSL monthly charge: 700 rs. 1USD = 45Rs They are lot of other features and HIDDEN COSTS. *200 rs extra for static IP *Night Time only scheme. ie, you'll be able to access net only after 9.00pm and before 8.00 am * Shared/Unshared means, if your bandwidth'd be shared by the other local users of your area. *in limited scheme they say, at midnights its Free!. They confuse like anything. when you wanna select a particular scheme from a particular ISP, you'll need a month time to decide based on their confusing offers. Last year i took a 1GB conn.it was bit more expensive than this year. i had to pay around 1000 rs every month. with 9.00 to 8.00 free surf offer. after i moved on from my town, i cancelled that connection. now here in chennai i'm planning for a 64k unlimited.which's quite affordable.

Atlantic broadband cable. $40/mo. On paper I've got 1.5down, 160 up. In practice I get 2.5/300 (no I haven't reversed the theoretical/actual numbers).
