I can't help but marvel at the low score your post has got, inspite of the words "devil's advocate". :sigh: Cheers, Vikram.

It's scary that the vote down reflex is so much faster than the think reflex.

They have already said that Israel is a "blot" and it should be "wiped off the map". So, yes, it seems reasonable that they are going to use it for peaceful purposes. "When only the police have guns, it's called a Police State."

Well, not *they*, it was their prime minister, who does not really hold the power. That is held by the Ayatollah, and he has distanced himself from the PM after he made that ridiculous comment. BTW, the PM is a socialist. But anyway, what the fuck do they want with nuclear power? They have enough oil to burn for centuries. Nunc est bibendum

So they can get their hands on the technology and expertise needed to enrich weapons grade uranium! The whole "civilian use" explanation is a smokescreen.

Not really. If they drop a nuke on Israel, Israel and the US will turn Iran into a big glow-in-the-dark hole in the ground, and they know it. They might be "zealots" but they aren't that stupid.

I dont think anything could make Bush look like a genius. Some quotes by Bush:

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." —Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000 "My answer is bring them on." —on Iraqi insurgents attacking U.S. forces, Washington, D.C., July 3, 2003 “We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories … And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them." —Washington, D.C., May 30, 2003 "But all in all, it's been a fabulous year for Laura and me." —summing up his first year in office, three months after the 9/11 attacks, Washington, D.C., Dec. 20, 2001 "I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe — I believe what I believe is right." —Rome, Italy, July 22, 2001 "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." —Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sept. 6, 2004 "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." —Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

The quotes are from Here[^] "When only the police have guns, it's called a Police State."

We are all fucked. And I was hoping for a quiet year. Go Team!

Quotes taken out of context don't really do much for me. While Bush is no Reagan when it comes to public speaking, it does give him a certain charm. It's actions that I'm more concerned about. And I don't agree with all of Bush's actions, I'm happier to have him than Kerry. My mom told me once that "while we all don't speak the same language, everyone in the world undestands an asskicking"

Bush is definately better than some left wing lunatic like Kerry, but I do not like him. It seems that he is intent on taking away our freedoms and turning America into a police state, but it would be worse if a liberal was in office. Tell me exactly what freedoms has he taken away? My mom told me once that "while we all don't speak the same language, everyone in the world undestands an asskicking"
