Hi folks, I have now the burning desire to learn windows networking and administration. All it reminded me is to write this message in CP. Any suggestions for me as to where I start and how to proceed. Thanks.:) omkamal

For me, I started using DUN (9x) and RAS (NT). I would suggest learning devices (Cisco routers, etc.), network topology and infrastructure (Ethernet, Fibre), protocols (DNS, SMTP, SNMP, etc.) before tackling something specific, such as Windows networking, CIOS, or whatever. And nothing will beat hands on experience when it comes to having it sink in. For instance, having a customer say they can't dial-in, check email, or the server is down. Yea! I admit, I've worked for several ISPs and my favorite was when a customer would know just enough to get in and screw things up. :) Also, study some sockets programming (Winsock and BSD Sockets). This will help you really understand the protocols (TCP/IP protocol suite, etc.) and the software side (like the OSI model). Jeremy L. Falcon "The One Who Said, 'The One Who Said...'"
