Choice of Font for VS Code Editor

Just an informal poll on the VS code editor fonts... Do you use the default Courier New font for the code editing window or do you use a different font? What font and size do you use (fixed font, serif, sans serif)? Do you find the font makes a big difference when viewing the code window all day? Just curious because every 6 months I get a whim to change the font and after spending a half hour flipping through various fonts I usually come back to Lucidia Console or Courier New. David
Lucida Console for me, usually at 10pt but often increased to 14pt depending on what I'm doing with the code. I prefer to review code in a larger font as I find the mistakes stick out better. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

Lucidia Console is nice, it's either that or Courier New. And I usually make it a bit bigger 10-12 pt. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! I switch between: Lucida Console, Andale Mono and Courier New (all 10pt) try turning on Cleartype (if you're not already)....looks alot better James

I use the default. When I do talks, I increase the font size, so the audience can see it better - but I don't touch the font-face. Regards, Nish

lol. Reminds me when my former boss asked for printouts of a code module. He was often so busy that he would never get around to ever looking at stuff on his desk, so as a lark I printed page one as courier new but the last 3 pages were wingdings. I dont think he ever looked at it because he never did comment on it... D.

Yes. There's not much difference in the mono-spaced fonts.

Fixedsys (9, and you'll like it cuz that's the only size!) Courier is waaaaaay too spindly for me. All those frivolous tails on the end of letters makes things look cluttered after all these years of Fixedsys. It's just so clean and bold. I use a black background too... white is too hard on the eyes. White is the default font color, with bright cyan for operators and keywords, bright green for comments, bright red for strings, dark yellow for numbers and most importantly: dark blue on bright cyan for selection. (I don't know why my selection color is so important, but it just is.)

Just been experimenting. The Nina font (no idea when it got installed but it is a Microsoft font) seems pretty decent in size 10. One interesting thing is if you check the Bold checkbox, the text does not really change but the parenthesis and brackets are bolded and much more noticeable. Text is kinda compressed but still quite readable. Can get quite a bit of code on a single line in the window. Might stick wit this one for a while. Cheers, D.

Verdana, 10pt. (No, it's not fixed width.) I have been using it for several months now. It is much more readable than a fixed-width font (particularly as it relates to speed). Unless I'm using code that really requires things to line up (which doesn't seem to happen), I never think twice about replacing a fixed-width font with a font designed for easy, fast reading. John

Courier New 12 pt. On my 19x12 monitor, with the way I have the IDE windows set up, that gives me about 140 cols of text.
