Nope, I read "Brave New World" and figured "1984" was probably just more of the same. Somewhat interesting but not really my cup of tea. Better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep.

This is winter time, when it is wet and windy there are always less people going to the inner city pubs and people don't tend to hang around in the streets looking for fights or smashing up shop windows. Wait until the summer comes, then gauge how effective it has been.

Binge drinking is our heritage. We don't want to be sophisticated Europeans. We want to get thrown out of the pubs completely pissed at 11 so we can be sick and have a fight. hic hic snnkk... Are you gonna bark all, day little doggy. Or are you gonna bite. - Mr Blonde

serious violent crime was 21 per cent lower in the final three months of last year than during the same period in 2004 They are comparing it to winter 2004, not to summer time.

That has nothing to do with the new drink laws, serious violent crime has been falling in most areas for some times.
