I've really grown to love the way iTunes handles its music library - it's quick and easy to search for stuff, and you can create "smart playlists" that basically are playlists created from searches, that update in real time (so as soon as you add more music, it automatically shows up in any smart playlists that match it) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit! Buzzwords!

I second the iTunes organization. Change the settings so that iTunes actually imports mp3's into its folders and so that iTunes manages the folder/file names. Then import your songs into iTunes. You can fix any tagging issues by right clicking and selecting "Get Info" - you can multiselect if the artist name/album title/etc is wrong, and change multiples at once. When you're finished, you have a nice organized library under Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/ .

Hi there, I'm wondering how you organize your mp3's? I've been earlier using WinAmp, but nowadays it seems too bloated to me. Isn't there something simple yet capable for free download? Any hints, ideas? /matthias

Right click, "New", "Folder", give it a name, move the files to this folder using cut and paste. What more do you need? From the Churchdown Parish Magazine: "Would the Congregation please note that the bowl at the back of the Church, labelled 'For The Sick,' is for monetary donations only."

you might want to take a look at MediaMonkey[^], it has some very nice featuers. [edit] p.s. most of your winamp plugins will work with it too :)

I looked at it briefly, is it possible to override it's default path for new audio files? It was insisting on ripping to my documents\something or other, I'm keeping all my mp3s elsewhere (on a seperate partition, my docs is on a fairly small one),

Yeah, if you go to "Edit->Preferences" to the "Advanced" tab, to the "General" subtab (sheesh!), you can change the "iTunes Music folder location"

A new option is Songbird[^] which is a media player written using the Mozilla/Firefox/XUL/whatever-the-hell-the-right-term-is engine. Looks a lot like iTunes and I haven't used it much yet. (The site is down right now, doh, but check back later.) regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! I organise them on disk by initial-letter -> artist -> album, e.g. a folder called 'F', containing a folder called, for example, 'Fugazi', containing folders for each album, e.g. 'The Argument'. As for a player, this[^] is my favourite.

I got bored a few weeks ago, hammered out my own little mp3 player. Nothing special no fancy UI just plays music and has a play list queue. See it here MP3Caddy[^] It’s not done yet, I'm still considering what features need to be added, refine the current ones. :)
