Since the first step of people who go to Alcoholics Anonymous is to admit they have a problem, it's universally accepted that at their first meeting, they get up in front of everyone and say "My name is Joe Bloggs and I'm an alcoholic". Most people in "Western" countries would understand the humour. Rest assured I meant no offense! When I saw you'd already written the first half, I couldn't resist adding the second ;)
