I distincly remember a Piers Anthony book in which a minotaur has been genetically engineered, and it is apologetic to the girl tied to the front of his maze, that as she is a virgin he cannot help but kill her at dawn. At the last moment her male companion realises how to save her life, and does so. At this point, I realised that Piers Anthony is a sicko. I suppose it was too serious an issue to try NOT killing some poor young girl one year to see if it continued to shine anyhow. Obviously the guy who came up with the ritual was gay. Had a good interview for my dream job the other day. Now I am just playing the waiting game. If anyone wants to pray with me or perform the job dance for the job gods, please feel free.

At this point I realised apart from a couple of good practicioners, most sci-fi/fantasy was just soft porn without the plastic wrapper. Are you sure ? I edited my initial reply, which was that the guy who came up with the ritual was gay, or a necrophile. I reckon that might also be over the top though.
