Absolutely. You get these weak people who use processed honey. Pah! I import deadly, wild African bees and squeeze their guts out into my tea. Nothing like hives after a fresh cuppa! Hoo yah! On a more serious note I went back to Africa last week and for the first time realised what I had been missing in Ireland; freaking mozzie bites, moths as big as my hand, cicada beetles in my bed, ants that can be used as stitches and miggies that gave you a second skin. If I so much as see an ant in Ireland I stop and study it like the veritable Buddha himself. Not that I miss mozzie bites mind you. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! That's lovely Smitha, I'm glad you're enjoying yourselves. Try to touch things with your hand inside your sleeve first so that your sleeve takes the shock. Static shocks can be surprisingly painful! Michael's doing great thanks, nearly 9 months already and into everything. You can see photo's of him here[^] :)

Heh, i'm with you on that one. Not that i think the mosquitoes of Minnesota***** are a match for those in the wild jungles of SA, but moving out to arid Colorado pretty much eliminated any nuisance - the skeeters out here are so small and weak you barely feel the bite**********. *Winters cold enough to kill most of 'em, summers humid enough to grow 'em all back. **Of course, the people here are so scared of catching west nile that they still go around drenched in DEET during the summer months.

Here in Thailand the sugar granules are not only larger but they are not white. They have a brownish translucent color that would never be confused with salt. When I lived in the US you could also get this less refined sugar and it was labeled “raw sugar”. If you can find “raw sugar” in Canada you will never make that mistake again. Never could understand why they charge more for foods if they process them less! :confused: It really doesn't make sense. At least here in Thailand sugar is sugar and you would have a hard time finding the extra refined variety even if you wanted it. X| And the insects are free. :~ I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopes

Heard this commotion in the washroom just after I gave Nish his morning dose of hot malted chocolate beverage and when I was starting to clear the kitchen sink. I was in a panic especially after all the heart-attack-muscle-spasm related incidents of the last two days. And I see Nish spitting out the drink and washing his mouth. As soon as he had done with it, he explains to me that the drink had a weird taste - the only explanation he could give of it with his culinary skills or the lack of it [even went to the extend of saying he thought some insect had gone into it in the interval between the time I put the drink on the table and the instant he came and drank it]. I tasted the drink - I had used salt instead of sugar!!! I keep salt and sugar in similar containers [from a set of 12 I bought from some mall], but I normally use salt from a dispenser and so I always keep the salt container below the sugar one. Last night I accidentally swapped them when refilling the dispenser [this also explained why last night's porridge was so sweet we had to throw it away and had to go to bed eating some salads, bread, and curry]. The series ended with Nish tasting sugar and pepper on his hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Nish suggested labelling the containers - but I didn't want to. That sounded amateurish. I have been handling salt and sugar for at least the past 15 years and never has this happened to me. I realised that this was because back home we have different crystal sizes for sugar and salt. Sugar crystals are bigger you never mistake them for salt. You can get unrefined sugar, sucanat (sp?) and other kinds of "healthier" (hahaha) sugars in most health food stores, and a lot of those have bigger crystals. Plus, if you get unrefined sugar, it'll be a golden-yellow instead of white. Quite an amusing story. Reminds me of when the Chinese restaurant confused the sugar for the MSG. As long as he washes up the cooking utensils too, it's an idea that can be considered. I believe in all kinds of optimizations that can be applied at work in the kitchen.
