code porject

Just made a not so unusual typo, and noticed that www.codeporject.com[^] actually exists (porject vs. project for those who did not notice). Weird :~ . ~RaGE(); -- modified at 4:37 Monday 27th February, 2006
It's a common typo for codeproject. one exists for slashdot which redirects to a site telling you how many times people have made the typo mistake and then tries to sell you the site address as it's guaranteed a number of hits

crap! its a trap for someone who mistakenly types "or" instead of "ro".. if at 1 in 20 types "or", he'd get a hit rate of 1/20 hits of CP per day... that'd would be big. please remove the link. its awfull, monkey. X|

Which link ? Do not get me wrong, this was no advertisement for the site; it is only that I often mistype "or" instead of "ro", and that it was the first time that I was redirected to a real website instead of getting a 404... I just cannot believe how weird people who creates things like that can be- :sigh: ~RaGE();

That's a great business model, isn't it? "Let's try to sell our product to people who we just pissed off by tricking them into our site." Best of luck to 'em.

Rage, Believe it or not those web sites do very well. I can't imagine wanting to find CodeProject, making a typo, getting directed to a generic shopping site, and then going ahead and buying something. But it DOES happen... and in that kind of business it is all about the "free" traffic.
