Very famous dialogue from the movie "Matrix" - "There is no spoon", if you haven't seen the movie then, please watch it you will like it.

The ultimate meaning of life does not change regardless of the profession or hobby: worship the Creator of all that is. For coders, do the best job you can do with what is available to you. Simple enough to say; takes a lifetime to live.

No meaning. Just a sequence of random events that produce reactions in the environment and in the people around you. This way of thinking is really reassuring: no purposes, no gods, no duties. You are the author of your own future, and sometimes even of someone else's. ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

Umm, can we discuss this later in detail? Next week, preferably by email? Of course, you're free to tell me to s*d off. :) Cheers, Vikram.

Google translate: "non ci è cucchiaio" doesn't quite have the same ring to it (assuming it's accurate)

Life has no meaning apart from that which you find in it. The meaning of my coding life, is to build software that makes other people's jobs easier. As long as I do that, then I'm a happy coder. The other part of my life is given meaning by my family, friends and chocolate. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

I'm suprised you would need help with a simple search: 1) in your browser, go to google.com 2) type "define life" in the search box and click 'Google search' button there you go - it will tell you the meaning of 'life': "a characteristic state or mode of living". Now if you want help searching for coders... i'm sorry but you must be blind. You have actually posted this message on a site that has more coders hanging around than the heffner mansion has busty babes

One of my engineering professors at UAB used to always say, "Do what you can with what you have in the time available." Sometimes, not all the dinner dishes get washed... Maybe someone should convince Bill Gates to spend some of his spare billions on an even bigger mansion with even bustier babes, and when you pass a microsoft exam you go into a draw to spend a weekend month there :D

When I started programming (aging myself here!), it was on a Commodore PET with 16K of memory. My options were: BASIC and Assembler. For many tasks, BASIC suffised, but when speed (relative) was of the essence, I learned Assembler for the 6502. Progress to a Commodore 64 - repeat above, but now in colour! Then Fortran (while working at a cereal factory) with a smattering of C and VAX/VMS Assembler. More Fortran (while working at a paper mill) on a legacy application that was written in Fortran against an Ingres database. Now, mostly VB with VS.NET 2005 and SQLServer 2000 or SQLServer 2005 at work; at home, should time allow, it will be VB Express Edition. This is not to start a BASIC versus C versus C++ versus C# versus... debate, rather, to say we make use of what is made available to us. :-D

The correct translation is "Non c'è cucchiaio", but in the movie it was "Il cucchiaio non esiste" or maybe "Non c'è nessun cucchiaio" I don't remember now. :) ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]
