Other Names for Cricket?

Having been thoroughly trounced at darts tonite was bad enough, but then somebody informed me that the rest of the world doesn't even call my favorite game by its proper name! Do any of you know other names for the dart game we call "Cricket" here in the colonies? I'm referring to the one that requires three marks each to the 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, and bull. Once closed with three marks, each leg is available to score points against the opponent so long as his remains open. High score wins.

I use to play a bit of darts when younger, and had never seen a game like that. Regardz Colin J Davies

Cricket is about the only dart game I play here in Canada. There are variations of the game at http://www.crowsdarts.com/games/cricket.html. I started and have always played the 2nd variation from that page called Wild Mouse... it's also called Minnesota or Moose (Minnesota is just South of me (I'm in Manitoba)), so I guess that sort of explains why this is the variation that I have been exposed to. Give it a try, it's more challenging and a lot more fun I find. :)

I use Crow's site for reference, as well - Tim's put together a superior website for us spearchuckers, hasn't he? I'll check out the link, though my choices are limited - all our pubs prefer the soft tip games, and they don't allow any variance from their preset games.

It's called killer in South Africa. Then again that might be a colloquialism. :omg: :omg: Cheers, Simon X-5 452 rules.
That's an apt description of it:laugh: We have a game called Assassin that we enjoy when there's a steel-tip board available. Totally different, though.

Ok, now's a good chance for me to ask this. WHAT is Cricket. Here in the States I'm not sure this game is even played. If it is, it's definately not an attention getter. Could someone explain this game to me? Matt

I assume you refer to the 'other' one, not the dart game. I'll have to defer to the euros here - to me it looks like a melee played with sticks and balls, and no indication of rules. But it might be less formal than that. There is no American equivalent that I can think of, but if there was it would be something like: 1) Round up all the gang members in Los Angeles county. 2) Build a huge fenced enclosure and lock them in it. 3) Chuck truckloads of baseball bats over the fence. 4) Charge admission to the stands, and televise it.
