As the Internet transforms the way people use computers, Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates has a message for the world's biggest software maker: adapt or die. "We must act quickly and decisively," Gates wrote in an Oct. 30 memo to Microsoft executives. "The next sea change is upon us."
Cheers, Vikram.

I doubt it. Windows is Microsofts #1 channel to get more of MS software on to your machine, which means more $ for Microsoft. Maybe he means that Windows will be a platform between your computer as a box, and the internet where all applications are. Who knows... could be way off with that one. ===================

Highly unlikely. And that would make a lot of investors very unhappy... John

Hardly. Microsoft is like a car company. What they market has been designed 10 years ago. There are teams already working on what they'll be marketting 10 years from now. Marc Pensieve Functional Entanglement vs. Code Entanglement Static Classes Make For Rigid Architectures

and Microsoft Executives responded.... they put out a bid to buy the Internet.... I seriously doubt this will be the last OS. There is always change, change requires work, work requires income. Income has got to come from somewhere. So unless processor advancements halt, software advancements halt, storage advancements halt, and graphics advancements halt.... there will be another OS eventually. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
