http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve\_Ballmer Steve Ballmer has been known to be very passionate in expressing his enthusiasm. Once, his vocal cords required surgery after he screamed "Windows, Windows, Windows" continuously at a meeting in Japan in 1991[1]. When Microsoft celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2000, Ballmer popped out of the anniversary cake to surprise the audience. His wild screaming and dancing on stage at an employees convention was caught on a widely-circulated video known as "Dance Monkeyboy." A few days later at a developers' conference, a sweat-soaked Ballmer repeatedly chanted "developers" at least 14 times in front of the bemused gathering. Ballmer has also called Linux "communism" and the GNU General Public License "a cancer," [1] as well as more recently claiming that the most common format of music on iPods is "stolen". He advocates digital rights management and has said that "DRM is the future." Ballmer is reputed to have a sometimes violent temper. Mark Lucovsky has claimed that Ballmer became violently enraged on hearing that Lucovsky was about to leave Microsoft for Google, Ballmer threw a violent and destructive rage, throwing furniture across the room and saying, according to Lucovsky: "Fucking Eric Schmidt is a ***** **** . I'm going to ***** bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again...I'm going to **** kill Google." Shortly after, he resumed trying to persuade Lucovsky to stay at Microsoft. Ballmer has described Lucovsky's account of the incident as a "gross exaggeration of what actually took place." funny

Ballmer's a screamer in meetings, too. I stood outside a conference room once when I was at MS and heard him reaming somebody inside. Word is that that's a common style at Microsoft, including Gates. Zero tolerance for not having your stuff together. chucksp Carpe Manana

Hi, I have a book on Steve Ballmer "Bad Boy Ballmer" and in general i think he is a hard worker and has proven to be a great leader in a tought business. I think it's "normal" that it can be " a hard punch" when people leave to an other company, and people can over-react sometimes, that's normal i think. With friendly regards, Eric Goedhart Skype: eric-goedhart Deep in the fundamental heart of mind and Universe there is a reason. -Slartibartfast

:omg: :wtf:  How did they ever manage to get out the world's most widely used PC OS? ---------------------------------------------- If you need a hammer get C and shut up. If you need a nail gun get C++ and shut up. If you don't need *those* things (and good design should tell you) then by all means get a factory, factory, factory. --code-frog@codeproject

I've been at an MVP meeting with Balmer as the keynote. He struck me as a focused guy, did a great job of thinking on his feet to answer a wide variety of questions, probably a guy who, by virtue of his achievements, would expect a high standard of those around him. I love the iPod quote :-) Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Eventually -- it takes quite a while, partly due to some of the Washington State labour laws and partly due to the Microsoft system. I've seen three people fired, and one more who was almost fired. Two of the firings took well over a year to complete, and included the people essentially taking a salary for no work the whole time. The almost firing was stopped when the person in question moved to a new group. Once you've moved on to a new group, most managers don't care if you don't have your stuff together. You're someone else's problem then. -------------- TTFN - Kent
