What I found interesting is how faithful it was to the original series in terms of how the story is told. It's also very clear they are inspired by the fabulous string of episodes with Tom Baker and Lalla Ward. (Though Tennant is no Baker and Piper no Ward; I do hope both improve in time.) I've waited almost 20 years for The Doctor to return to US TV (not including the TV movie)...and well worth the wait...only downside is there are only 13 episodes per "season"...DVD set (out July 4th) is definatly on my "must buy" list. very  Steve

That's where we differ, quality over quantity. ;) I definitely prefer shorter series. In fact it isn't unusual in the uk for a series to be 6-10 episodes. Anway, you're definitely in for a treat, the Doctor was a Saturday teatime must watch! :D

They get much better and Billie Piper's acting later in the series is awesome. Enjoy :rose: The tigress is here :-D -- modified at 12:23 Saturday 18th March, 2006

Yes. Ms Piper was a revelation. Now she's put her Chris Evans days behind her, I think she'll go onto to be one of Englands top actresses. Hollywood will be calling sooner or later. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

That series is sooooo 2005 lol. When do you get to see last year's Christmas special (with the rather yummy David Tennant in the lead), I wonder? ;P Watch out for all the references to Bad Wolf and see if you can figure it out without googling. ;) Incidentally, Captain Jack[^] (you'll meet him soon, I imagine) has his own series - Torchwood[^] - starting soon on BBC3. Looks good. Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. It didn't work.

October. I believe. It doesn't start filming until the summer. There have been a few production difficulties. Jack, was my favourite character introduced in the new series. Just a shame he won't be in the second series. John Barrowman has come along way since 'Live and Kicking'. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

Watched it. Came in with *very* low expectations, but to be honest i think it might work. Keeps a good mix of the humor and cheesiness that i enjoyed so much in many of the older episodes.

Finally a show I've seen before the US audience. I thought the first two episodes were 'fantastic' and the series just keeps getting better and better. I'm very interested in the American reaction to what is a very "British" show. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

I just saw this thread...and I saw the show...so here is my American reaction. I thought that the show was better than the original Doctor Who episodes, and I'm REALLY glad that the good Doctor is no longer wearing that stupid scarf. It still has the rather intersting cheapness about it, but the humor is much better this time around. (And I've seen all episodes of the first 5 doctor who's) Not being in England I was unaware of the fact that the female companion is (or was) a pop idol there. I thought she added a good amount of change to the story, being a strong character instead of some of the previous weak female counterparts. (I also like her desire for topless sunbathing) I still wonder if a show like this can gain much acceptance if the special effects and creature enemies continue to give that 'cheap' look to them. (the made-on-a-$1000-budget look) Especially on the SciFi channel. But I'm sure all of the Doctor Who fans will enjoy the show immensly.
