A friend and I are just heading off to give the Commonwealth games cycling time trial course a test run. Y'know - to make sure it's up to snuff for the boys this afternoon. The course is about 100m from my place and it's a weird sight to see the road along the beach completely barricaded off for its entire 30km. I've not actually been watching much of the games but it's a truly eerie feeling to be on such a familiar road and realise it's the venue for a worldwide event. cheers, Chris Maunder

When the olympics were in LA in 1984, I got an up-close view of the torch, and the marathon route passed by about 2 blocks from my home. It was pretty neat. --Mike-- Visual C++ MVP  LINKS~! Ericahist | NEW!! PimpFish | CP SearchBar v3.0 | C++ Forum FAQ

Are you a cycling fan? I am (used to race on the road here in Maryland, US) but the US tends to ignore bike racing (except for Lance :sigh: ). If I remember correctly, Stuart O'Grady is a pretty good Australian rider and, a while back, Phil Anderson was near the top. Enjoy the race :) Justin

Absolutely. We've got a bunch of good sprinters down here. Don't forget Robbie McEwen (and if you do, he'll certainly do his best to remind everyone ) cheers, Chris Maunder

Ditto that. I remember being by Cypress Junior College in Orange County watching the torch go by :)

Hardly! I'm in Melbourne working like a bandit in my home, occasionally sneaking out to watch the Commonwealth games from a safe distance. cheers, Chris Maunder
