Now here's a serious competition! We're sponsoring a competition that will judge the best Windows Vista application and award the winner $50,000 USD (not a typo!) And...you keep whatever you create. That's right. You created it. You keep it. Main Page[^] Steps[^] Prizes[^] Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT

It's kinda funny that they're releasing it for businesses when it's the security stuff they need to tweak... ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Why don't you tie a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat your candy ass..." - Dale Earnhardt "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001
Not really, but then again I know some of the issues and why that I can't state. Safe to say that what's being released has a specific purpose for that target audience and is secure. Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT

Is that you on the pics, Tom?
Some of us walk the memory lane, others plummet into a rabbit hole
Tree in C# || Fold With Us! || sighistLOL. No, I don't have anything to do with this other than letting my CP bro's know of the competition in case you want to enter. Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT

How can I get the Vista OS Is it free or need to purchase Please let me know "Aim to go where U have never been B4 and Strive to achieve it" http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/dotnetforfreshres http://himabinduvejella.blogspot.com -- modified at 3:38 Wednesday 22nd March, 2006
The entire reason that we give away dev products such as the Express line is to sell the O/S. So no, the O/S is not free :) Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT

Why? Vista won't be released for a year or so... :) ------- sig starts "I've heard some drivers saying, 'We're going too fast here...'. If you're not here to race, go the hell home - don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Actually, there are at least 8 commerical applications that will ship when Vista RTMs in November. Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT

Hmm, lets think, I'm making 10,000 US a month, so if I just spend 5 months doing what I am doing anyway, I am gauranteed to get 50,000 US.
Does writing drivers pay that extremely well, or're you living in a very expensive area?
Well, writing drivers is very complex compared to apps, and, there arent many in europe who can do it, but, as a contractor, 8000 euros a month is average, even for application coders. Add in the 1.25 to 1 exchange rate and you get 10000 US. Nunc est bibendum

I know very little karate... Besides, it's hard to resist the urge to comment. I just don't want her to break her toes. It hurts really bad!
I broke my toe once. My little toe (yeah the smallest one). I was running to asnwer the phone and caught it on some furniture. I went down so fast. I forgot all about the phone and could only focus on pain. Lots of pain. I am a witness to the fact broke toes hurt. You'll wish you were dead... well maybe not but you'll wish for something to take away the pain.
Statement: Signature Project Is Currently On Hold Reason: Dear God! It's a long signature Jim. Indeed but is it to long for Chuck Norris?

Actually, shouldn't that be "MSDN Coding Competition" as you have to have a MSDN Subscription to get Vista? Rocky <>< Latest Post: SQL2005 Server Managemnet Studio timeouts! Blog: www.RockyMoore.com/TheCoder/[^]

Actually there are thousands of people on the beta and TAP programs that get Vista. I can't say anything else other than if you're interested in Vista and the competition, you'll want to register  Tom Archer (blog) Program Manager MSDN Online (Windows Vista and Visual C++) MICROSOFT
