    I've been an instant coffee man all my life. Don't get me wrong - I *love* drinking coffee and will gladly drink the freshly brewed kind if someone else brews it. Unfortunately, I'm very pressed for time (also see "very lazy") and can only set aside a few (2.5) minutes to microwave a cup of Maxwell House instant coffee every morning. Lately I've found myself craving the good (or at least halfway decent) stuff. So my question is: is it OK to refrigerate freshly brewed coffee for use during the next day? Will it keep for more than one night? Do I need a special container or will a regular thermos do? Thanks, /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Music | Articles | Freeware | Trips ravib(at)ravib(dot)com

      When my dad's on the road and my brother's not pulling an all nighter the coffeepot at my moms can sit for three days before being completely drank and a fresh batch made. Her coffeesnob friends are appalled, but as an instant drinker I don't think you're desperate for thier validation. :)

        So then it's OK to refrigerate it, right? Should I wait for it to cool to room temp before placing it in the fridge? Thanks, /ravi My new year's resolution: 2048 x 1536 Home | Music | Articles | Freeware | Trips ravib(at)ravib(dot)com

          I'm thinking you may as well do the instant stuff if the alternative is day-old brewed coffee. I'd rather have freshly brewed mid-grade coffee than $12/lb stuff that's even a few hours old. X| It could be that I'm kooky, though. Charlie if(!curlies){ return; }

            Yes, this generally works alright, but you'll want to ensure that you stir it the following day prior to pouring it ... Why not just get yourself one of those personal desk coffee makers? Like this thing Desktop Coffee Maker[^] Amazon B&D Personal Coffee Maker[^] Now you can be lazy (e.g., not actually "get out of your chair") yet still have freshly brewed coffee. Course, this doesn't prevent you from having to go to the store to purchase the coffee and the filters ... wait ... no, you can get those on-line too ... You may never have to leave your desk again ... Let me know how that works out for you, I'm gonna go take a walk now.

              It works, but kinda tastes like crap if you re-heat it. A great use of left-over coffee you just want to drink it cold, or mix with hot milk. FWIW, i just made a fresh pot of coffee in 9.5 minutes. All but 1.5min (the time it took to fill the coffee maker, re-fill my water pitcher, and grind the beans) of that was brewing time - i could have been getting showered, dressed, etc. except that i was reading CP instead. So don't discount having time to brew a fresh pot...

              Now taking suggestions for the next release of CPhog...

                  Yes, you can refridgerate it. It's alright as long as it doesn't sit on the burner for a long time first. Don't wait for it to cool. On the other hand, Bunn brand coffee makers will brew a pot of coffee in 3 minutes. They keep a reservoir of water already heated, so when you pour in the cold water, the hot water immediately begins to flow. Add a good burr grinder (not one of those chopper type ones), you Turn on the grinder for 10 seconds, fill add the freah ground coffee, and pour in the water. < 2 minutes later you can have a fresh-brewed half-pot of coffee.

                    Co-ffee? Seriously, Tea is all you ever need. I was once hooked on Coffee, it made me a bad person. Tea made me great again. There is nothing like going into work with a thermos of Earl Grey. Mmmm

                      How about a coffee maker with a timer? Takes 2 minutes at night and every week day we wake up to freshly brewed coffee !

                        She normally just leaves it out. My brother makes is strong enough nothing could survive in it. Unless you're pinching pennies there's no reason not to fridge it immediately.

                              http://www.keurig.com/[^] This way you can have a nicely brewed cup of coffee whenever you want. This is better than the pod brewers since it is actually drip coffe instead of being brewed under pressure (if you like drip coffee).

                                      Co-ffee? Seriously, Tea is all you ever need. I was once hooked on Coffee, it made me a bad person. Tea made me great again. There is nothing like going into work with a thermos of Earl Grey. Mmmm
