filename in VS2005 title bar?
-
does anyone know how i can make the "really wonderful" IDE VS2005 put the current file name in the title bar? i am using VS2005 in tabbed mode, i tried multi-window mode, but the screen flicker on changing files drove me up the wall. the IDE seems to assume i have short file names. since i do not name all files, this is outside of my control. when the filename is long, i cannot tell which file i am in by looking at the current tab *sigh* :(( i know it shows you bits of the file name, but it does not show enough to uniquely identify the file, and moving the mouse over the tab just to see the file name in a tooltip 300 times a day is stupid for a keyboard centric cat. i have been off to my friend google, but so far no luck. i have this urge to make a VS2005 voodoo doll at times, i am working in pure C++ which should explain why in case you are wondering. zen is the art of being at one with the two'ness

You can't make VS put the current filename in the title bar. There's no option for it anywhere as far a I can tell. Though, you MIGHT be able to do it by writing your own extension to the IDE. RageInTheMachine9532 "...a pungent, ghastly, stinky piece of cheese!" -- The Roaming Gnome

*sigh* yes, i could not find an option for it either. i wonder how hard it would be to write a plugin to do this. i need to look into this when i find some spare time. zen is the art of being at one with the two'ness

What an interesting concept! I should do some research into what this "spare time" thing is. RageInTheMachine9532 "...a pungent, ghastly, stinky piece of cheese!" -- The Roaming Gnome

 I never noticed it didn't put it there... I don't bother looking at the title bar to see what I'm editing ;P Thats what the tabs are for ;)
it is until the tab reports the file name as "ImportantEditerFor...cpp" which means you have no idea which file you are in the middle of *sigh* zen is the art of being at one with the two'ness
