Yes, but I'm not, am I. Oracle is a wildly different product from any OS, and you know that as well as I do. Oracle is a proven-over-time, ultrascalable and well-supported enterprise solution. Windows 95 is a toy. Henning Kilset Pedersen Forbrukerkraft AS IT Manager

Its made by a company called 'Quest Software', its certainily not free, but you don't have to get the full package either. Quest usually tries to sell their customers the whole package which is around €1500, when in fact you only want the basic software which is around €400 it has certainily made my life a whole lot easier. No, I know :) It's just that when people (i.e. the person starting this thread) bashes Oracle becuase their Admin tools are built in Java, I get a bit upset. The admin tools really have absolutely nothing to do with the stability or scalability of a solution like Oracle. The database itself is absolutely rock solid, is my point. sure. Those companies have big IT departments with big expirience in unix systems. Those people will naturally chose oracle. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Memory leaks is the price we pay \0 01234567890123456789012345678901234

You don't seem to work for Oracle. It's just a bunch of zeros and ones produced by company running under fvckwit Larry E. - if product fits your needs use it, be happy, and don't worry about these opinions. :-D BTW: Java frontend tools really suck X| ;P Tomasz Sowinski -- http://www.shooltz.com

We're using Oracle for a project, and it SUCKS. Final proof that Java blows. It is slow, unreliable, ugly and plain crap. Any comments ? I'm sorry if I was not clear - Oracle is obviously not crap, but the user tools, written in Java, are a festering pile of manure. That was my point. Having found the free version, I can't figure out how to view the data in a table with it - do you have any suggestions please ?
