Oh for an application to be able to recall the previous size/position of its File Open/Save common dialogs between executions... is it *that* much to ask for? I absolutely loathe having to resize them each time I run a program, or am I alone in this gripe?

This is the sort of thing that should've been rolled into the base MFC classes...'cuz I think we're all too lazy to write our own. OTOH, I've seen applications that *try* to be smart about this sort of thing, only they totally break down, say, if you have a multi-monitor setup and then at some point remove the secondary video card...
