Any Americanites ever move to europe to work? I'm curious what the pros vs. cons would be in making such a move. Say your company was moving from LA to Ireland and you where offered a two year package to help transition the company. Todd Smith

It doesn't answer your question directly, but if I were single (well, not involved, as it were) and didn't have a kid in highschool, I'd jump at the opportunity to experience other countries. I wish I'd done this in my 20's. Marc Pensieve Some people believe what the bible says. Literally. At least [with Wikipedia] you have the chance to correct the wiki -- Jörgen Sigvardsson

I've been around the world and have seen those that thrive and those that sink. In other words, it is a question of attitude not geography. After all, one can be miserable moving from LA to Chicago or from suburb to suburb. My advice is, go for it.

Smoking seems to be tolerated/accepted more in Europe. If you're like me and can't stand smoke, that's a pretty big deal.

That depends, the Republic of Ireland has a smoking ban in workplaces and bars. Scotland is getting one too, soon the whole UK will have legislation banning smoking in public places. Maybe the rest of Europe will follow along if the EU health dudes get their fingers out.

Though you won't find smoking in pubs and restaurants here (Ireland) anymore. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!

It depends where you go in Ireland. Anywhere outside of Dublin is pretty underdeveloped even by the standards I had coming from Cape Town. I imagine it would be a bigger life-style shock coming from LA to Waterford city or even Cork city. It is lovely though, a good life. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!
