Hoping someone can advise me. I brought windows xp home. and a tv card (hauppauge). The hauppauge software to watch tv is awful, very unstable, and sluggish. So i looked out for a windows program to watch tv on. So i heard about windows media center 2005. Is there anyway that i can get hold of this (purchase that is). Just that from what i can see, you can only purchase this with a different version of windows, and its rather frustrating since i only brought windows xp home 2 weeks ago. Advice please! Windows Media Center Edition 2005 is, in fact, a different version of Windows. It is not application software built atop Windows; it's a Windows version by itself. Meaning you'll need to purchase a Windows Media Center and install it as an upgrade to XP.

Windows Media Center Edition 2005 is, in fact, a different version of Windows. No it is not, its just plain windows XP. It is not application software built atop Windows; it's a Windows version by itself. actually it is a separate appliation that is located in the window directory, and can actually be deleted without repurcussions to the underlying O/S. Meaning you'll need to purchase a Windows Media Center and install it as an upgrade to XP. Windows Media Center IS a completed O/S which includes the media center add-on.

Fine then a lot of the DVB-T software will work with it with BDA drivers installed. Just be aware there are multiple versions of the Nova-T the older Philips chipset based OEM TechnoTrend 1300 and the newer Conexant based cards (should have 90002 on the tuner as well)

DScaler is by far the best viewer for Windows. Alot depends on the type of TV card u have, and you have to make sure to have a very good signal.

                      xacc.ide-0.1.3.7
Now a whole lot better :p

My Hauppauge card has served me very well through two machines though it is advisable to download new drivers from their web site at intervals; instructions for this are comprehensive but require close attention and you should have relevant part numbers to hand. Make sure you set a System Restore point. (If your Windows XP is an upgrade version this is probably the culprit)
