    Not to mix metaphors here, but that sure sounds like a poker-faced response :).

    Well, I love chess, but I wanted to tone down the "you're on!!!!" response. :) I can see though, a new slew of CP sigs, with their chess sign-on names. I'll have to update my sig now... :~ Marc Pensieve Some people believe what the bible says. Literally. At least [with Wikipedia] you have the chance to correct the wiki -- Jörgen Sigvardsson

      I like chess - not very good at it though, but it's fun to play.

        I love chess. I have always loved chess, but the problem is that I am just very average at it. I would like to play, but it's no fun getting your butt kicked all the time. ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸

            I used to live eat and breath chess (1200 level I think), but like my pool (ranked 7 to 8) phase I eventually lost my drive and started concentrating on my coding. You ought to step away from the computer, purchase an electronic chess board and play that. It will kick your but your game will improve. I gave one to my niece (8 at the time) and she learned how make almost perfect openings, but she did not know what to do after that. I think she learned that much by having it play its self. Any way sitting at an actual board is the best way I know of to learn the game. INTP Every thing is relative...

                I used to spend large chunks of my day on the Internet Chess Club, but it's been a few years now. I still have a decent collection of chess books, but I never really got better than average. Charlie if(!curlies){ return; }

                    Man... I'm a programmer for hire and just finished an enormously stressful and intense project. For me the game of chess (though I do enjoy it) is not the release I need. At the moment I need to blow dust of the railgun and go get Quaked. Either that or fire up the Xbox and dual weild some plasma rifles as I hunt covenant. Yeah, I'd like that right. Reality though means that instead I took my 3 children (ages 1,4,5) to my house that will be ready for occupancy in 2 days sat out back on the patio on the stone (no furniture) on my buns and lazily watched them play in the dirt piles. I even took the extra effort to toss small pebbles at them which they all enjoyed. I think my wife went off to explore other houses being built in the area. I just sat, and I sat and I sat. What I really enjoyed most though was not having to think. Yes that's quite right. Not having to think was very nice. This of course is due to just finishing up 100 hour weeks since December because of some very bad things happening all at the same time and someone (me) having to develop 3 websites at once. I wanted to learn ASP .Net and I'm much further along than I was before but the price was almost to great. So I'm just going to sit quietly and drool distantly while I watch my children play. If you are tempted to think I'm dead or insane (neither correct) wait a minute. I'll move periodically to lift a glass of ice tea to my mouth and guzzle furiously before lapsing into another relaxed stupor. Then I'll get motivated and throw another pebble.:laugh: - Rex

                          Yes, but I can't seem to find anybody that wants to challenge me, and I sort of not like very much playing facing a screen. I love the feeling of taking the piece (?) in the hand to quick an opposite pawn or a queen away from the board, punching the clock, plus the psychological challenge that is not that much if the player is not physically present. ~RaGE();

                            Yep. My dad taught me to play when I was about 9, but with one exception I've not played in years. I'd have to get some real practice in to become proficient again...but unfortunately time doesn't permit that right now. I keep knudging Beth to learn so we can play each other, but realistically that's going to take a while. I'd also love to be able to teach my kids how to play (they're 7 and 5) but that's just a dream given my current situation. :sigh: Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint :cool: Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. I used to play a fair bit on Yahoo! - ranged between 1200-1300 rating. Not sure if I'll be a decent challenge, but I'll look you up when I get a chance.

                                I play some at FICS, i use that mainly because of the UI, i can size the board to fit most of the screen. I do try to keep away though since i get really p*****d when i loose. ( Which happens to often. X| ) And according to this thread, programmers make really lousy chessplayers. :) /Magnus

                                  I get this image of a guy sitting on the ground, each eye focused in a different direction, steam rolling off the top of his head. Time for more coffee.

                                    I play some at FICS, i use that mainly because of the UI, i can size the board to fit most of the screen. I do try to keep away though since i get really p*****d when i loose. ( Which happens to often. X| ) And according to this thread, programmers make really lousy chessplayers. :) /Magnus

                                      No steam. All the steam is gone. But my hair probably won't be combed so from a distance it might look like steam.:)

All of this is very weird. In the end, war is not about who's right, it's about who's left.

                                          I opened the game, but am having browser troubles logging on, may have to slightly adapt username(this browser will not accept space in name). Will try to resolve these issues later on today. approx 3-4 hours from now. Looking forward to playing you:)
