MS security patch issue?

I just realized last night on my home machines (both Compaqs) that after this weeks round of security patches IE isn't working right. After installing the patches and rebooting IE no longer allows me to type web addresses into the address bar. I can type the address in but when I hit enter nothing happens. Anyone else having this issue? Odd behavior:~ Guess I'll have to use Firefox until MS fixes it:sigh: ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done. Yeah, I looked at that too but it was only for printers, scanners, and cameras. Oddly enough I tried to pull some pictures down the other day off my HP camera and couldn't figure out why the HP program wouldn't recognize the camera. Oh well. can you open a file by passing it a command line parameter, or com interop? If not it's still wide open.

Starting at http://www.vatican.va/[^], I'm pretty sure someone could eventually end up on some pr0n site after following enough links... :-D Actually, someone should set up a competition to see how many clicks it takes to do just that :-D

A year or so ago, my IT-administrator-controlled work PC started shutting IE when you typed a web address in the address bar. After some experimentation, I discovered that if I typed
"http://www.somesite.com"instead of just"www.somesite.com", IE worked fine, i.e. it had something to do with domain identification. I reported it to IT, who could not solve the problem (they wanted to re-install XP, but I asked them not to), and 6 or 8 months later, the problem disappeared. Presumably some MS update fixed it. Maybe this will help you (if you can train your wife to type"http://"in the address bar.)
