Blogs

I've just read an article about blogs (would have linked it but it wasn't in English). Seems like blogs have a real influence in the US, but in Israel they don't get as much attention yet. I was never much into blogs, I always thought that keeping an online journal was a bit self-centered. I also tend to think that people who have their own blog usually don't bother reading other people's blogs. Do you keep a blog? Is it personal only or is it subject oriented (music, news, etc.)? Are there any blogs you visit frequently? Isaac Sasson

I keep a blog, although it has slipped by the wayside recently due to other pressures. I hope mine isn't self-centered. It's more about my ideas and thoughts on software development. It's just a place to put my random thoughts out there, without having to worry too much about it being properly formed or even much good. I prefer blogs that share ideas, rather than blogs about a person's day-to-day life - although there are a couple of exceptions. (Hi Rob). I prefer technical and software development related blogs rather than the political and personal ones.

I have a large collection of blogs that I have subscribed to in RSS format. I don't read them all everyday. A lot of the Microsoft ones are good, because they share technical info as well as giving me an idea on where Microsoft are going. I have my onw blog (see sign). I write mostly about politics and ICT. I usually never write about myself. I keep "personal" discussion away from the Internet, having them with real people. I also read other blogs, with various subjects, but anyway centered on politics and ITC. I think blogging is a good way to sort out things and fix knowledge. I mean, how many times are you looking for some information, review, or even opinion about a subject? Blogs are becoming the primary source of information about many things, especially ICT. Anyway in my experience, the most comments on my blog come from my "real" friends. ___________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. My Blog [ITA]

The reason people put up blogs varies, so lumping them all together isn't really fair. There are some that are only intended to keep friends and family up on the latest. Some are intended to develop a small community of people with a similar interest. Some are simply an excuse to write on a regular basis, and maybe even get some feedback. Others are certainly feeding someones ego, still others may be there only because it is part of a playground to learn about web technologies. Some may even be strictly informational, almost journalistic. Have started a blog several times, the latest being the longest run (10 whole entries :) ). My blog is a mix between personal and random topics. I have a few blogs I visit maybe monthly or so, and even fewer I'll visit weekly. BW
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

I've two...one of which is personal (although with a theme of gender issues; not surprising given my background) and the other technical, and primarily relating to the products I work on. Neither is updated particularly often at the moment, as I simply don't have the time to write as often as I'd like to. Nevertheless, the site stats show both are pretty heavily read - especially my personal journal. When I don't update them for a while I start receiving emails asking why...

About 50 or so (isn't RSS great?), mostly on technical subjects (although TNUK[^]and Real Live Preacher[^] are notable exceptions). Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Yes.

It is developer oriented.

Yes. * Rob Manderson[^] - Because he has some really interesting stories. * leppie[^] - To keep up with his open source project. * The Partially Fictitious Adventures of Ian[^] - Because we seem to be on a similar political wavelength. I read others but not so frequently.

Yes. I recently started a personal blog with thoughts concerning entertainment and politics. Unfortunately this blog is written in portuguese only, my native language :).

Yes, I blog. Mine started out as a technical blog but that didn't last long and it soon turned into the story of my life. I am, however, selective about what parts of my life I document; heck I'm not going to admit everything :) I do day to day stuff though I also write about things I or my friends did anywhere from the late 1950's to the present. I also get mileage about being an Australian living in the US and frequently visiting the Philippines for work! Other blogs I read include all those at http://wdevs.com[^], a whole bunch of MSDN blogs particularly Raymond Chen and Larry Osterman and a few Melbourne based blogs. Well I used to be a big fan fo Belle Du Jour's blog, but unfortunately, she seems to have sold the rights to a film company, and in now writing for one on the British broadsheet newspapers....the mind boggles :) "Now I guess I'll sit back and watch people misinterpret what I just said......"
